EDUC-279 Special Ed Teaching Field Experience 3 cr. Required for Special Education. Provides an opportunity for students to conduct classroom instruction, with the support of a cooperating teacher and a college supervisor, in a special education school setting – in any grade K-12. The state requires this practicum to include a minimum of 105 hours in a classroom. Field observations emphasize the value of connecting learning theory with actual practice and the use of reflection for continuous instructional improvement. Other coursework involves a review of the Common Core State Standards and the NM teacher competencies. The student must earn a grade of B or higher to be successful in this course. Prerequisites: EDUC 240 , EDUC 250 and EDUC 208 , EDUC 209 , EDUC 213 Corequisites: EDUC 252 or EDUC 254 and EDUC 260 or EDUC 262 or EDUC 264 Offered: Fall, Spring Every Year - Faculty Permission Required Fee - Course/Program (F) $175.00
