EDUC-250 Effective Teaching Practices 3 cr. Required for Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education. Introduces effective, research-based teaching strategies. Students practice developing unit plans and daily instructional plans, taking into account developmental levels and diverse learning styles, using culturally appropriate materials. Classroom management emphasizes the creation of a quality learning environment. The course also covers inclusion classrooms, working with special education coordinators, and types of accommodations common for disabled students. Students practice developing assessment instruments, analyze alternative assessment methods, and study means of addressing varied content, grade levels, and diverse student characteristics.
