The Associate of Science degree in Mathematics is intended to prepare students for transfer to a four-year baccalaureate granting institution. Those wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution and pursue a bachelor’s degree program are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and carefully coordinate their coursework at San Juan College with the requirements of the transfer institution.
Note: All courses must be completed with a C or higher to count toward the degree.

General Education Course Requirements
Laboratory Science: 8 credits
(choose 2 courses for 8 hours from the following):
Social and Behavioral Sciences: Select 6-9 credits
(must have 15 credits total between Social and Behavioral Sciences and Humanities and Fine Arts areas)
Introduction to Psychology
Humanities and Fine Arts: Select 6-9 credits
(must have 15 credits total between Humanities and Fine Arts and Social and Behavioral Sciences areas)
Mathematics Requirements: 4-15 credits
Students’ Accuplacer score for Mathematics will determine their placement in the Math sequence, beginning with MATH-115 Intermediate Algebra-Applications through MATH-188 Calculus I . Students who place at the beginning of the Math sequence will need to complete 11 additional credit hours of coursework to complete the degree requirements.
Total General Education Requirements: 36-47
Mathematics and Science Electives: 9-12 credits
(Choose 9 to 12 credits)
Total credit hours: 60-74
