The Associate of Arts degree in Native Studies will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the fields requiring Native American Studies. Students wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution and pursue a degree in Native Studies are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and coordinate their coursework at San Juan College with the requirements of the transfer institution.
Note: Students must earn a grade of 'C' or higher in all courses to obtain a Native Studies A.A. degree.

SJC First Year Experience Requirement: 3 Credits
General Education Requirements: 31 Credits
Social/Behavioral Science:
Program Core Requirements: 12 Credits
Program Core Electives: 12-14 Credits
Choose must choose four courses from below for a total of 12-14 credits: One course (3 credits) from the Literature and Art category; two courses (6-8 credits) from the Culture, History, and Language category; and one additional course (3-4 credits) from either category. Culture, History, and Language
Additional Elective: 3-5 Credits
- Any course numbered 1110 or higher - 3-5 Credits to meet 60 credit minimum for degree
TOTAL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: 61-63 Credits
