Geology, A.S.

The Associate of Science degree in Geology will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the fields requiring geology.  Students wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution and pursue a degree in Geology are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and coordinate their course work at San Juan College with the requirements of the transfer institution.  

Note:  Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to obtain a Geology A. S. degree.

SJC First Year Experience Requirement: 3 Credits


Program Proficiencies and/or Prerequisites:


Students’ placement in the Math sequence will be based upon the highest Math course successfully completed in high school, beginning with MATH-1215  Intermediate Algebra-Applications through MATH-1240  Pre-Calculus.  Students who place at the beginning of the Math sequence will need to complete 4 additional credit hours of coursework to complete the degree requirements.

Note: It is recommended that students take COMM-1130  OR COMM-2120  as three of these elective hours.
