The Outdoor Adventure Education (OAE) Certificate Program at San Juan College is designed to provide a variety of emphasis options and nationally recognized external certifications in the field of Outdoor Adventure Education. OAE classes are not limited to degree seeking students; faculty/staff and community members are welcome and encouraged to participate in the classes.
The program combines a wide variety of leadership, education, business and theory classes with a core group of fieldbased classes in outdoor adventure education. These classes are experiential in nature, meaning that you will learn the skills through participation in various activities and reflection on those experiences. Although these classes are a lot of fun, you will learn a great deal about yourself, your peers, the educational value of the experience, and how you can become an effective professional in the field of outdoor adventure education.
Note: Students must pass all courses with a grade of C or better to receive the certificate.
