EDUC-262 Reading in the Content Areas 3 cr. Required for Secondary/option for Special Education. Introduces foundations of literacy and instructional methods for strengthening reading and writing across the curriculum. Covers current research-based methods in relation to diverse learners. Explores cultural and linguistic influences on literacy development. Classroom assessment, both formal and informal, is also addressed. A variety of teaching strategies specific to content areas are reviewed with the objective of increasing reading and language competence in grades 7-12. Prerequisites: EDUC 240 , EDUC 250 Corequisites: EDUC 252 or EDUC 254 Offered: Spring Every Year - Faculty Permission Required
