This is a post-baccalaureate program designed to develop the NM Teacher Competencies. The 16 credits cover competencies for entry-level secondary teachers, including 3 credits of reading and a field-based component with a minimum of 105 hours of supervised classroom teaching. The student must earn a grade of C or higher in all Gen-Ed, Core, and Elective courses required for this program.

EDUC-242 Foundations of Education 2 cr.
EDUC-244 Family, School & Community Cultures 2 cr.
EDUC-250 Effective Teaching Practices 3 cr.
EDUC-254 Secondary Teaching Methods 2 cr.
EDUC-262 Reading in the Content Areas 3 cr.
EDUC-277 Secondary Teaching Field Experience 3 cr.
Candidates teaching middle school may choose to enroll in EDUC 275 Elementary Field Experience instead of EDUC 277 .
