Geology, A.S.

The Associate of Science degree in Geology is intended to prepare students for transfer to a four-year baccalaureate granting institution. Those wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution and pursue a bachelor’s degree program are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and carefully coordinate their coursework at San Juan College with the requirements of the transfer institution.

Note:  A student must earn a grade of C or higher in all courses to count toward the degree.

Program Proficiencies and/or Prerequisites


Students’ Accuplacer score for Mathematics will determine their placement in the Math sequence, beginning with MATH-115  Intermediate Algebra-Applications through MATH-170  Pre-Calculus.  Students who place at the beginning of the Math sequence will need to complete 4 additional credit hours of coursework to complete the degree requirements.

General Education Requirements: 33 credits


Gen Ed - Communications, Social/Behavioral Science, Humanities, Fine Arts
