This program is designed to instruct students in the tasks and responsibilities of a surgical technologist in the operating room. Areas of study will include, but are not limited to, aseptic technique, positioning of patients, preparation of instrumentation, pulling of case carts, setting up rooms, and assisting surgeons. By the end of the degree studies, the student will be able to independently prepare for a procedure and assist the surgeon in a great patient care outcome.
Students who successfully complete the courses will be eligible to take the national certification examination of the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

A student must earn a grade of C or higher in all courses to obtain a degree.
