The Associate of Science degree in Mathematics will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the fields requiring mathematics. Students wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution and pursue a degree in Mathematics are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and coordinate their course work at San Juan College with the requirements of the transfer institution.
Note: Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to earn a Mathematics A.S. degree.

SJC First Year Experience Requirement: 3 Credits
Program Proficiencies and/or Prerequisites:
Students’ Mathematics Placement will determine their starting point in the Math sequence, beginning with MATH-1215 Intermediate Algebra 4 and into MATH-1510 G-Calculus I 4 . Students who place at the beginning of the Math sequence will need to complete 11 additional credit hours of coursework to complete the degree requirements.
General Education Requirements: 32 Credits
Social/Behavioral Science:
Program Core Requirements: 15 Credits
Note: MATH-1510 is included in General Education credit total.
Mathematics and Science Electives: 10 Credits
Choose a minimum of 10 credits:
TOTAL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: 60-63 Credits
Suggested Course Sequence for Full-Time Students:
Students who for any reason are unable to follow the suggested course sequence should contact an academic advisor for help with adjustments.
