The Associate of Science degree in Biology is intended to prepare students for transfer to a four-year baccalaureate granting institution. Students will take courses that will provide an introduction to the many specialties within the field of biology. Those wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution and pursue a bachelor’s degree program are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and carefully coordinate their coursework at San Juan College with the requirements of the transfer institution.

Note: Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to obtain the Associate of Science degree in Biology.

ENGL-1120 Composition II 3 (Preferred) OR

Gen Ed - Social/Behavioral Science, Humanities, Fine Arts

Fine Arts 3 cr.
Humanities 3 cr.
Social and Behavioral Science 3 cr.
Remaining Gen Ed requirements - choose any combination from Social and Behavioral Science , Humanities , and Fine Arts 6 cr.

Gen Ed - Mathematics

MATH-1240 Pre-Calculus 4
Course meets both Gen Ed and Program requirement.

Gen Ed - Lab Science

BIOL-2110 BIOL-2110L and CHEM-1215 CHEM-1215L meet both Gen Ed and Program requirements.
