The School of Business and Information Technology offers several two-year degree options.
The Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) is a business-focused degree aimed at transferring students to four-year bachelor degree programs available at peer institutions. The A.A. program is also available online.
The Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Computer Science is a transfer degree for students interested in software programming and design.
The School of Business also offers a range of Associate of Applied Science degrees (A.A.S.). These programs are generally designed to include necessary skills to enable students to gain employment in specific fields. Our A.A.S. degrees include Accounting, Business Administration, Digital Media Arts and Design, Information Technology and a competency-based education (CBE) program in Computer Information Technology.
The A.A.S. degree in Accounting has concentrations in Tax Specialist and Accounting Specialist.
The A.A.S. degree in Business Administration has concentrations in General Management, Office Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Digital Media Marketing.
The A.A.S. degree in Digital Media Arts and Design has concentrations in Print and Video.
The A.A.S. degree in Information Technology has concentrations in Business Leadership, Computer Science, Office Manager, and Information Technology.
Certificate programs are also available in Bookkeeping and Payroll Accounting, General Management, Office Professional, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Object-Oriented Computer Programming, Digital Media Marketing, Cybersecurity Support, Information Technology Support, Network Support, and a competency-based education certificate in Cybersecurity Support.
Our Continuing Education courses and services through the Community Learning Center, Encore: The Senior College, and the Volunteer Center are committed to enriching our community by providing lifelong learning opportunities to enhance the mind, body, and spirit. Kids Kollege is a summer enrichment program for children and teens between the ages of four and fifteen.
Our Enterprise Center is a certified business incubator and our Small Business Development Center provides a wealth of business services to new and existing customers.

The School of Energy offers a variety of degree and certificate programs designed for students and professionals entering and advancing their careers in industry. Programs of learning are applicable to a wide variety of industries including: energy, manufacturing, water management and treatment, electrical technology, food processing, extraction, facilities maintenance and management, and safety, among others.
Training is designed and delivered by industry veterans enriched by their broad-based experience and is offered on-campus, online, or remotely across the U.S. Classes include hands-on learning utilizing actual equipment providing students with realistic experiences.
Degree and certificate programs include: Petroleum Technology, Compression Technology, Industrial Process Operations, Instrumentation Controls Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Tribal Energy Management Studies, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Occupational Safety, and Construction Safety.
The School of Energy’s robust offerings of professional certificates include: IADC WellSharp Well Control, PEC, MHSA, HazWoper, OSHA, First Aid/CPR, DDC, H2S, and many other safety-related trainings.

School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences consists of a variety of programs and courses that support the health professions and wellness. Entry into degree programs is competitive and requires the completion of pre-requisite classes.
Current Associate of Applied Science degree programs are Dental Hygiene, Health Information Technology (HIT), Paramedic, Surgical Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Both the PTA and HIT program are also available online. A Paramedic Associate of Arts degree is also available. The School of Health Sciences also offers an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and in partnership with the University of New Mexico admits Bachelor of Science in Nursing students into the statewide common curriculum through participation in the New Mexico Nursing Education Consortium.
Certificate programs include Medical Insurance Coder/Biller, Emergency Medical Technician and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, and five interlaced, stackable Health Care Certificates: Fundamental Skills, Patient Care Unit Assistant, Nursing Assistant, CNA Unit Administrative Assistant, and Phlebotomy.
Many of the degree and certificate programs offered by the School of Health Sciences prepare graduates to sit for state or national certification or licensure exams. The School offers courses in Nurse Aide Certification (CNA), Emergency Medical Responder, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy Technician, which also prepare students to sit for a certification exam upon successful completion of the required coursework. In addition to degrees and certificates, the School offers courses in physical fitness, wellness, nutrition, and health.

The School of Humanities offers general education courses in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Fine Arts; courses in developmental English and Reading; Associate of Applied Science in Technical Theatre; Associate of Arts degrees in Liberal Arts with concentrations in many of the disciplines; and Associate of Arts programs in Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education, and Psychology, Native Studies, and Human Services. The School of Humanities is comprised of four departments: 1) Social Sciences and History which includes anthropology, psychology, sociology, political science, human services, history, and philosophy; 2) Language and Education which includes student success, modern languages, reading, speech, and early childhood, elementary, secondary, and special education; 3) Fine Arts which includes visual arts, music, photography, pottery, and theatre; and 4) English which includes composition, technical writing, and literature courses. School of Humanities also oversees Community and Public Events, which includes the Office of Public Events and the SJC Art Gallery as well as overseeing the Child and Family Development Center.

The School of Science, Math, and Engineering offers Associate of Science degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Engineering Technology, General Science, Geology, Mathematics, Medical Science, and Pre-Health Science that provide strong backgrounds for students preparing to transfer into the respective bachelor’s programs at four-year institutions. The school offers general education courses in astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, and physics; courses in developmental mathematics; and math and science courses supporting the requirements of other degrees offered at San Juan College. In addition, the school oversees the SJC Planetarium and the Sherman Dugan Museum of Geology.

The School of Trades and Technology offers 11 full-time programs with options of a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree or certificates. Each program gives students the opportunity to apply skills learned from the classroom/lab/shop to the work environment. Programs include Auto Body, Automotive, Building Trades, Cosmetology, Diesel, Drafting, Fire Science, Geographic Information Systems, Welding, and Veterinary Technology. Partnerships with General Motors, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda are established within the automotive program. Police Science is offered as a two-year Associate of Arts degree.
