The primary objective of the Associate of Applied Science in Accounting program is to provide the opportunity for students to develop high levels of technical and occupational preparation in the discipline of accounting. The two-year program requires course work in financial accounting, managerial accounting, income tax, intermediate accounting, cost accounting, payroll, and computerized accounting. Upon graduation, the student will have the educational background for employment at the paraprofessional level. While several of the courses listed below do transfer, this specific program has not been designed for transfer.
Notes:
- If placement indicates a need for mathematics or reading developmental courses, those courses should be completed before the student enrolls in ACCT-2110 Principles of Accounting I.
- Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to earn an Accounting A.A.S. degree.

SJC First Year Experience Requirement: 3 credits
General Education Requirements: 15-16 credits
Core Course Requirements: 24 credits
Approved Program Electives: 18 Credits
Choose a total of at least 18 credit hours from ONE of the following concentrations: Tax Specialist Concentration
Accounting Specialist Concentration
TOTAL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: 60-64 credits
