EDUC-261 TESOL Methods 3 cr. This course will focus on the practical methods for classroom application of second language acquisition theories. Participants will explore how speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills are acquired by second language learners. In addition to examining how expressive and receptive language skills should be taught, participants will acquire a variety of methods, strategies, and techniques for use in building fluency, comprehension, and accuracy with English language learners. Attention will be paid to sheltered instruction techniques and differentiated instructional practices as well as current vocabulary acquisition theories and their practical classroom applications. Prerequisites: RDNG-096 or appropriate Reading Accuplacer. Take ENGL-095 or appropriate English Accuplacer. Offered: Fall, Spring
