EDUC-240 Introduction to the Teaching Profession

Required for Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education tracks. Orients students to the role of teachers in relation to the classroom, professional colleagues, the school and the community. Surveys components of the teacher licensure process including NM Teacher Assessments, NM Teaching Competencies, licensing requirements, portfolio development and K-12 content standards, including the Common Core State Standards. Participants do a self-inventory in relation to the teaching competency of professionalism. Enrollees must first pass NES basic skills tests I-III.
