HMSV-2140 Introduction to Alcohol and Drug Abuse 3 This course provides a broad overview of the field, including issues of alcohol and other drugs in history and society; definitions and prevalence of alcohol and drugs use misuse and addiction; major theoretical perspectives on the causes and remedies of substance abuse; major landmarks in alcohol and drug social policy; and the development and evolution of the alcohol and drug abuse counseling field.
