Message from the President

Welcome to San Juan College! We have recently implemented a new tagline that truly embraces the concept of San Juan College. More than an advertising slogan, Success Matters is what we genuinely believe. It is about what we do and who we serve - our students and our community.

Success  Matters on many levels - whether you are just beginning your educational journey, completing your degree, or working to advance in your career, our faculty and staff  are dedicated to help you gain the competitive edge you need to succeed.

Finishing your degree is vital to your success and the ability to provide for yourself and your family. According to statistics, by 2018, almost 60 percent of jobs in New Mexico will require a career certificate or college degree.  In addition, individuals who have an associate degree earn an average of $10,000 more per year. San Juan College is the perfect place to help you accomplish that goal.

It is important that you complete your degree on time.  By taking 15 credits or more each semester, you can not only finish your degree on time, you can begin earning a higher income sooner and will reduce the amount of money you spend on education.  To ensure that you are on track, I encourage you to apply for your financial aid and/or scholarships early, meet with your advisor prior to each semester, and when enrolling for classes, take your math and English courses first. This will better prepare you for success in subsequent courses.

We understand that not all students are able to take 15 credits per semester. If not, I encourage you to consider taking as many courses as you can successfully manage. Our advisors and staff can help guide you in your selections that will set the path for your success.  Learn more about the benefits of taking 15 credits at www.sanjuancollege.edu/15ToFinish .

We also offer a range of support services to provide you with assistance when needed - from our Student Achievement and Tutoring Centers to our Veterans, Native American and Hispanic/Latino Centers. We recently opened our new Resource Network, which connects students to community resources and helps remove barriers that can sometimes get in the way of students completing their education.

We offer more than 100 degree programs to choose from, as well as the flexibility of both face-to-face and online classes. You can also continue your education by earning your bachelor’s or master’s degrees right here at home through our partnerships with other state universities.

Your success awaits you, and San Juan College is here to help you reach your goals and begin your journey to a brighter future. We look forward to partnering with you on your path to success!
