This is a post-baccalaureate program designed to develop the NM Teacher Competencies. The 19 credits cover competencies for entry-level elementary teachers, including 6 credits of reading and a field-based component with a minimum of 105 hours of supervised classroom teaching. The student must earn a grade of C or higher in all Gen-Ed, Core, and Elective courses required for this program.

EDUC-252 Elementary Teaching Methods 2 cr.
Candidates teaching middle school may choose to enroll in EDUC 262 , Reading in the Content Areas, instead of EDUC 264 , Elementary Reading.

EDUC-275 Elementary Teaching Field Experience 3 cr.
