Pre-Mortuary Science Certificate

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

Apply foundational knowledge in biological principles.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the structures and functions of the human body.
Apply business and accounting principles
Understand legal and ethical principles of business
Demonstrate effective professional communication

The Pre-Mortuary Science Certificate prepares students to apply for an A.A.S. in Mortuary Science by fulfilling general education and pre-requisite course requirements. Students enrolled in the Pre-Mortuary program should apply for admission into a Mortuary Program (such as the A.A.S. at Arapahoe Community College) so that they can complete the major courses for their degree.

Mortuary Science prepares students to become funeral directors, embalmers, as well as, other careers in the funeral industry. Upon completion of the A.A.S. degree students will be prepared to take the National Board Examination of the American Board of Funeral Service Education.

Students who for any reason are unable to follow the suggested course sequence should contact an academic advisor for help with adjustments.

Summer 1

Fall 1

Students planning to complete the Mortuary Science AAS through Arapahoe Community College should contact the Mortuary Science advisors at Arapahoe Community College early in this first fall semester to begin the transfer application. Students planning to complete the Mortuary Science program at another institution should contact the advisors at that institution to verify that their courses will transfer and fulfill the program requirements.
