Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Communicate clearly and empathetically with clients, families, and professionals of the behavioral and mental health team.
  2. Apply foundational principles of psychology, human services, and sociology to support client care, behavior management, and treatment goals.
  3. Demonstrate professional and ethical standards in all aspects of client interaction and workplace practice.
  4. Apply evidence-informed techniques, intervention strategies, and documentation skills under supervision to assist in client care.
  5. Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to promote quality care and positive client outcomes.

The Behavioral Health/Mental Health Certificate will provide students with the principles, knowledge and skills required to begin a career in the field of behavioral health. Students wishing to complete an Associate of Arts or transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and carefully coordinate their coursework.

Note:  A grade of C or better is required in all courses.
