Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with clients, families, and professionals of the behavioral and mental health team.
- Apply foundational principles of psychology, human services, and sociology to support client care, behavior management, and treatment goals.
- Demonstrate professional and ethical standards in all aspects of client interaction and workplace practice.
- Apply evidence-informed techniques, intervention strategies, and documentation skills under supervision to assist in client care.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to promote quality care and positive client outcomes.
The Behavioral Health/Mental Health Certificate will provide students with the principles, knowledge and skills required to begin a career in the field of behavioral health. Students wishing to complete an Associate of Arts or transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and carefully coordinate their coursework.
Note: A grade of C or better is required in all courses.
