Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Identify factors that promote safe, effective, age appropriate, ethical and culturally competent care.
- Provide safe, effective, age appropriate, and culturally competent care in an ethical manner.
- Perform basic nursing assistant skills related to various healthcare settings and various populations, respecting patients’ mental health and social needs.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
This program prepares students to provide safe, compassionate care for individuals who are ill or recovering-under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or other licensed healthcare professional. Students learn through classroom instruction, practice in the skills lab, and hands-on clinical experience in local nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities.
Upon successful completion, students meet the requirements to apply for the state nurse aide certification exam in accordance with New Mexico Healthcare Authority guidelines.
Note: This program is not eligible for Federal Financial Aid.
