Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Utilize accounting information systems to process and manage financial data.
- Perform accounting tasks using Excel tools and functions.
- Evaluate financial data to assist in business planning, control, and evaluation.
- Explain tax laws and compliance requirements.
The primary objective of the Associate of Applied Science in Accounting -Tax Specialist program is to provide the opportunity for students to develop high levels of technical and occupational preparation in the discipline of tax accounting. The two-year program requires course work in financial accounting, managerial accounting, income tax, intermediate accounting, payroll, and computerized accounting. Upon graduation, the student will have the educational background for employment at the paraprofessional level. While several of the courses listed below do transfer, this specific program has not been designed for transfer.

- If placement indicates a need for mathematics or reading developmental courses, those courses should be completed before the student enrolls in ACCT-2110 .
- Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to earn an Accounting A.A.S. degree.
