Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in mathematics, general chemistry, and cellular biology.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the structures and functions of the human body.
- Employ scientific methods and instrumentation for designing and evaluating laboratory experiments.
- Apply scientific principles to the analysis of quantitative and qualitative biological problems.
- Demonstrate effective literature research and the technical writing and oral communication skills necessary for successful participation in the field of pharmacy.
The Associate of Science degree in Pre-Pharmacy will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the fields requiring pre-pharmacy.
The Associate of Science degree in Pre-Pharmacy combined with the Pre-Pharmacy Advanced Certificate provide the foundation students need to pursue an advanced degree in Pharmacy.
After completing their first year in this program, students will apply for the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy Early Assurance Program. In this program, will receive advising from the UNM COP advisors and upon completion the A.S. and Advanced Certificate will be admitted directly into the UNM COP Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
