Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Perform precision haircuts including tapers, fades, razor cutting, and shear-over-comb techniques.
- Perform straight-razor shaves and beard/mustache design safely and professionally.
- Apply chemical services permitted within barbering scope of practice.
- Demonstrate proper sanitation, disinfection, and infection control procedures.
- Conduct professional client consultations and provide excellent customer service.
- Demonstrate knowledge of scalp treatments and basic skincare services within barbering practice.
- Apply fundamental business practices, state laws, and professional ethics.
- Complete 1200 clock hours minimum to meet eligibility requirements for the state barber licensing examination.
The Barber Certificate will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in barbering. For those already employed, the program provides courses to upgrade or allow occupational advancement.
Our school prides itself on working toward becoming a traditional Barber Program that focuses on cutting techniques and shaving. Students entering this program are required to complete appropriate basic skills classes as determined by course placements. This is a selective program that admits students in the fall, spring, and summer semester.
