Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate safety awareness and professional communication. 
  2. Apply electrical principles to industrial systems.
  3. Calibrate instrumentation and apply PID control for process operations.
  4. Implement motor control and basic PLC systems for industrial automation.

This program is designed to provide students with fundamental instrumentation and control knowledge and skills. Students who have a basic knowledge in instrumentation and control are in demand in a diverse energy industry. This program will cover industrial measurement, process control, AC & DC circuits, motors & controls, safety, and the National Electric Code.

Note:  The student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to obtain the Instrumentation Controls and Electrical Technology A.A.S. degree.

SJC First Year Experience Requirement: 3 Credits


General Education Requirements: 16-17 Credits


TOTAL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: 63-67 Credits


Notes:


MATH-1170 was previously a 3-credit course. A student who previously completed the 3-credit MATH-1170 successfully has satisfied the MATH requirement.

Suggested Course Sequence for Full-Time Students:


Students who for any reason are unable to follow the suggested course sequence should contact a program advisor for help with adjustments. Instrumentation requires completion of Math before starting INST courses.
