Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Identify the characteristics and learning needs of gifted and advanced learners across diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Design differentiated curriculum and instruction that provides appropriate challenge through strategies such as acceleration, enrichment, and curriculum compacting.
- Use multiple assessment measures to support equitable identification and progress monitoring of gifted students.
- Address the social, emotional, and developmental needs of gifted and twice-exceptional learners.
- Collaborate with families, educators, and school leaders to support effective gifted programming.
- Advocate for equitable access to gifted services, particularly for students from underrepresented populations.
This certificate program provides documentation that the student has completed 24 credits of instruction focusing on education of the gifted student. This certificate will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the field of education. The seven classes include three classes that require a supervised field experience.
