Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Identify fire protection and emergency service
- Develop components of career preparation and goal
- Identify various classifications of building construction and how fire impacts them
- Identify the fundamental theories of fire behavior and combustion
- Differentiate the various types of extinguishing agents
- Understand code enforcement as it impacts life and property
- Understand the concepts of risk management and mitigation as it pertains to emergency services
The Firefighter Certificate - Basic program certificate will be issued to those students successfully completing the 100 level courses outlined below. This certificate represents 12 credit hours for the most basic level of certification offered in this program and will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the field of firefighting.
