Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of quantitative software applications to analyze and present data.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop engineering judgment (critical analysis) of quantitative results.
- Demonstrate quantitative skills in general mathematical and science subjects.
- Demonstrate competency using a variety of skills and technologies to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrate the ability to make an informed choice about an engineering specialty upon transfer to a university program.
The Associate of Science degree in General Engineering will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the fields requiring engineering. Students wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution and pursue a degree in Engineering are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and coordinate their course work at San Juan College with the requirements of the transfer institution.
Read the current catalog of your intended transfer degree institution to take the most appropriate courses for each engineering specialty. Not all courses in the General Engineering A.S. will transfer to some schools, or in some specialties. For detailed information on the most common transfer universities visit: NM Tech go to www.nmt.edu, NMSU www.nmsu.edu, UNM www.unm.edu, and Fort Lewis www.fortlewis.edu.
Note: Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to obtain an Engineering A.S. degree.
