Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Students will apply safe working methods while following written and verbal instruction to complete basic fabrication and welding tasks assigned.
- Students will compose, demonstrate, and perform fillet and v-groove welds in all positions on plain carbon steel pipe using a variety of welding processes.
- Students will safely plan, demonstrate and perform fillet and v-groove welds in all positions on plate using GMAW and GTAW processes.
- Students will compose, demonstrate, and perform v-groove welds in all positions on various size carbon steel pipe to ASME B.31 and API 1104 weld codes using SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes
- Students will interpret, create and apply Sketches, drawings and weld symbols to Fabricate parts
The General Welding Certificate offers students introductory level hands on course work in the weld shop setting over the following subjects, Blueprint reading, Oxy/Fuel cutting, metal fabrication, Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding skills will be introduced. Tests to AWS 1.1 Structural Code will be required.
Note: All students must follow WELD course semester sequences and all students must pass each class with a grade of ‘C’ or higher to move on to next sequence of courses.
- Students may take WELD 1120 and or all four courses: WELD 1130, WELD 1132, WELD 1140, and WELD 2140 together.
- WELD 1310 may be taken out of sequence with instructor approval.

TOTAL CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS: 27-30 Credits
