Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
1. Utilize appropriate veterinary medical terminology and demonstrate effective communication with veterinary staff and clients in both written and verbal forms.
2. Apply ethical standards, confidentiality practices, and professional behavior consistent with the veterinary healthcare environment.
3. Demonstrate safe and effective techniques for restraining, handling, and caring for a variety of domestic animals.
4. Identify potential personal, patient and workplace safety hazards.
5. Demonstrate understanding of basic veterinary clinical tasks such as patient physical exams, administering medications, and maintaining sterile environments.
6. Identify and analyze common infectious and zoonotic diseases affecting dogs and cats.
The certificate is designed for individuals seeking alternative positions in the pet health industry. Individuals completing the certificate program are not qualified for the National Veterinary Technology Examination and/or similar regional board exams in their state or province.
