Digital Media Arts and Design, A.A.S.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Students in the DMAD program synthesize ideas and concepts from various disciplines to create new works of media.
  2. Students in the DMAD program develop a design foundation for creating effective audio and visual communication.
  3. Students in the DMAD program communicate and present ideas in print, face-to-face, and electronic messages in both academic and client settings.
  4. Students in the DMAD program analyze complex projects and apply project management techniques to breakdown smaller tasks, set milestones, and evaluate progress.
  5. Students in the DMAD program adhere to current industry standards in print, video, web and emerging technologies to create new works of media.

Digital Media Arts and Design is a program to provide students with employable skills in digital layout, web design, multimedia, and video production.  Skills developed can be used in a variety of fields including education, marketing, entertainment, and advertising.  Students will gain both the aesthetic skills necessary for designing various media and the technical expertise necessary to implement those designs in various formats.  Emphasis is placed on mastery of industry software and hardware applications as well as portfolio development and project management.

Note:  Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to obtain a Digital Media Arts and Design A.A.S. degree.

SJC First Year Experience Requirement: 3 Credits


General Education Requirements: 15 Credits


Concentration: 9 Credits


Second semester, choose the concentration appropriate to your area of interest.

Approved Elective: 6 Credits


Take 3 credits from courses numbered 110 or higher from the following subjects: ANTH, ARTS, BADM, BLAW, BIOL, CHEM, COMM, COSC, ECON, ENGL, DRFT, FDMA, GEOL, HIST, MATH, MUSI, PHOT, PHYS, PHIL, PSYC, SOCI, THEA.

TOTAL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: 61-69 Credits
