The Associate of Arts degree in Secondary Education will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career working with children in the public school system (grades 7-12). Students will participate in field experiences to gain practical experience in a 7-12 school setting. The Secondary Education degree is designed to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution in Secondary Education licensure pathways.
Note: Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all coursework to earn a Secondary Education A.A. degree.

SJC First Year Experience Requirement: 3 Credits
General Education Requirements: 32 Credits
Communications: 6 credits
Laboratory Science: 8 credits
Choose two courses (with labs) from the following: (Recommended courses are Biology or Chemistry) Social/Behavioral Science: 6 credits
Creative and Fine Arts: 3 credits
Choose one Fine Arts course: Education Course Requirements (31 Credits)
TOTAL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: 63-66 Credits
