The Welding/Metal Fabrication Program stresses the practical applications of welding on plate and pipe in all positions and the necessary theory to support those skill levels. Welding skills are developed by using the following processes: oxy-acetylene, shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Support courses in mathematics, blueprint reading, drafting, and metallurgy are included in the program.
Notes:
- A student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses required for the program in order to receive a degree or certificate.
- Attendance is an intricate part of the learning process; thus, poor attendance can contribute to poor student success.
- Students may take WELD 1120 and/or all four courses: WELD 1130, WELD 1132, WELD 1140, and WELD 2140 together.
- Students may take WELD 1229 and WELD 1310 out of sequence with instructor approval.
