Alternative Licensure Certificate - Special Education

This is a post-baccalaureate program designed to develop the NM Teacher Competencies and will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the field of education. The 21 credits cover competencies for entry-level special education teachers, including 6 credits of reading and a field-based component with a minimum of 105 hours of supervised classroom teaching.

Note:  Student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all Gen-Ed, Core, and Elective courses required for this certificate.

TOTAL CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS: 21 Credits

This Program includes a suggested sequence for each Fall and Spring cohort. Students who for any reason are unable to follow the suggested course sequence should contact an academic advisor for help with adjustments.
