The Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts will provide students with principles, knowledge, and skills required to begin a career in the fields requiring an Associate degree.  Students wishing to transfer to a baccalaureate granting institution and pursue a degree in Liberal Arts are strongly encouraged to check with their advisor and coordinate their course work at San Juan College with the requirements of the transfer institution.  In general, however, it is suggested that students complete the New Mexico Transfer Module as outlined below.

Note:  A student must earn a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all courses to obtain the degree.

SJC First Year Experience Requirement: 3 Credits

General Education Requirements: 31 Credits

Mathematics:

Students should choose the Mathematics course for their A.A. based upon the degree they plan to pursue at a four-year college or university.  The mathematics sequence requires that the student either place directly into MATH-1220  or MATH-1240  OR complete MATH-1215  as a prerequisite.  Students who place at the MATH-1215   level will need to complete 4 additional credit hours of course work.  MATH-1215   does NOT meet the mathematics general education requirement for an A.A. degree.

Laboratory Science:

Select Laboratory Science courses for best fit in four-year program:

Social/Behavioral Science:

Humanities:

Fine Arts:

Program Core Requirements: 26 Credits

Take 3 courses from the following:

Suggested Course Sequence for Full-Time Students:

Students who for any reason are unable to follow the suggested course sequence should contact an academic advisor for help with adjustments.
