Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Degrees and Certificates

This two-year certificate is built around General Motors courses. Students who opt for the Domestic Manufacturer GM certificate will receive instruction in current General Motors technology. The first phase of training in each subject area will be taught at San Juan College with the last phase taught at a sponsoring General Motors dealership. This type of rotation continues for the duration of the Domestic Manufacturer program. This program is available by pre-selection only.

If the program starts in an odd numbered year, the first co-op will be in the first semester. If the program starts in an even numbered year, the first co-op will be in the second semester.

  • A student in this program MUST be able to perform tasks that are timed, both in the lab AND in their dealership. Extra time to perform these tasks cannot be provided.  This requirement is to prepare the student for success as a commissioned automotive repair technician.
  • This program requires that the student purchase his/her own tools. To obtain a list of the required tools, contact the Automotive Department.
  • There is no GM training credit awarded with this certificate.
  • A student must earn a grade of C or higher in all courses required for the program in order to receive a degree or certificate.

* A total of 8 of 16 credit hours MUST be earned from ASEP 280, ASEP 281, ASEP 282, and ASEP 283 to qualify for the certificate. Two of the four co-op courses must be completed satisfactorily.
